Your Oracle Programme Doesn’t Have an Environment Problem. It Has a Governance Problem
Environment Management is often treated as an infrastructure exercise. It isn’t. It is one of the most important governance disciplines within a successful Oracle Cloud programme.
Ask almost any Oracle implementation team about Environment Management and the conversation usually turns to infrastructure.
- How many environments do we need?
- When should we refresh UAT?
- Which environment is used for SIT?
- When do we deploy to Production?
These are all important questions.
Unfortunately, they are rarely the questions causing Oracle programmes to struggle.
The real problems sound very different.
- “Nobody knows what configuration is in UAT.”
- “The integrations worked yesterday.”
- “We’ve refreshed the environment and now security has stopped working.”
- “Business users are testing different versions of the solution.”
- “We’re not ready for Oracle’s quarterly update.”
These aren’t environment problems.
They’re governance problems.
